Therapy for Cultural Stressors
Therapy for the Invisible Weight of Cultural Expectations
Serving adults in Georgia and South Carolina (Online Only).

At Little Nook Therapy, you don’t have to translate your experience or minimize your pain to be understood. If you are carrying the quiet, complicated tension that can come from living between cultures, you are not alone. Your story matters here.
Little Nook Therapy is rooted in cultural humility, empathy, and a deep belief that every part of you deserves to be seen, honored, and supported.
What Are Cultural Stressors?
Cultural stressors are the emotional, relational, and identity-based challenges that arise from navigating multiple cultural worlds.

Cultural stressors are not always loud. Sometimes, they show up as the steady pressure to carry multiple worlds at once. You may notice:
-
Feeling torn between your heritage and your current environment
-
Guilt about setting boundaries with family or choosing a different path
-
Pressure to succeed, perform, or "make it worth it"
-
Difficulty expressing emotions in ways your family or community understands
-
Struggling to feel like you fully belong
These stressors are especially common for immigrants and adult children of immigrants. Whether you’re the first in your family to pursue higher education, establish a career in a new country, or explore mental health support, it’s common to feel both proud and overwhelmed.
Therapy gives you space to hold both.
The Little Nook Therapy Approach
We tailor each session to meet you where you are, using an integrative, client-centered approach that blends culturally responsive care with evidence-based practices like:

-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
-
Multicultural and Narrative Therapy
Our work is collaborative. You set the pace, and we hold space compassionately, consistently, and without judgment.
Whether we’re exploring intergenerational dynamics, burnout from perfectionism, or the longing to feel more at home in your own life, we're here to help you navigate it all with more clarity and care.
Start Where You Are
Cultural stress doesn’t always announce itself loudly. It often hides behind high achievement, over-responsibility, perfectionism, burnout or the belief that you should just be grateful. But emotional disconnection, chronic guilt, and burnout are signs that something needs attention, not proof that you’re broken.

If you're ready to explore what’s beneath the surface, we invite you to reach out. We offer a free 15-minute consultation where you can ask questions, share what’s bringing you in, and see if we’re a good fit.

You don’t have to do this alone. Therapy can be a soft place to land, a space where all parts of you are welcome.
